Human beings hold, in our grasp, the power to decide our planet’s future. In the midst of an approaching crisis of our own design, we are the only species that can prevent it. The SOLUTION is an initiative designed to empower and encourage society to take responsibility over our environmental impact. Each one of us plays a pivotal role in the global movement towards Earth’s preservation, yet so many people don't know the information they need to make effective changes.
Lack of knowledge is one major factor preventing the majority from transitioning to a more sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle. The biggest misunderstanding in our society today is that an individual’s actions don’t affect the majority, but this is far from the reality.
If each of us made a small contribution such as eating less meat, buying less plastic or using less water, we could achieve our goal of capping the global temperature increase at 1.5℃. Climate action requires us to have faith in each other, but also in ourselves, as we come together to leave a positive impact on the planet.
As of 29 July, Earth’s natural resources for 2019 were exhausted as consumption became 1.75 times greater than that which the planet can provide.
The effects of pollution are being recorded all over the world, from rises in sea levels to the destruction of coral reefs. Due to global warming, diseases that once could only thrive in hot climates are moving into new areas where a temperature increase now provides a basis for their survival. Micro-plastics are being found in drinking water and the food we consume, caused by the oceans and lakes poisoned by non-biodegradable packaging that contains harmful chemicals.
In larger cities, road traffic is a significant source of nitrogen dioxide pollution, rendering some locations’ air quality unsafe, as well as the massive greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to the planet’s warming.
We can’t all be perfect, but perfect isn’t what’s needed. What’s needed is small efforts in large numbers. I’m not an expert, but I don’t need to be a scientist to make change happen.
We can all be part of The SOLUTION, to reclaim our future and that of our children.
